Our family loves nature, the outdoors and anything to do with being eco friendly. If our family could live off of the grid, we likely would. Until that is financially possible, our family takes advantage of camping as often as possible. As often as possible for us, ends up being at least once a month. It is a great way to relax and unwind from the pressures that come along with the daily working grind.
We have done all kinds of camping. We tried RV’ing one time, but that did not feel at all like camping. It was way too expensive and using all of the fuel just seemed wasteful. We have also tried primitive backpacking but that was much too far to the other extreme. Besides that, we knew we wanted to start a family and back packing would be too difficult with small children. The camping that we ended up enjoying the most was sleeping bag camping.
We enjoyed sleeping bag camping so much that when our daughter was born we knew that we were not going to postpone our monthly camping trips. We decided we had to find a way to go camping with a baby. She loved the outdoors and we loved being able to bring her along.
When we first started camping with our daughter we did have to learn how to dress her appropriately. It was not that long ago my wife and I decided that we wanted to be more eco friendly and began living an organic life. One of the changes that made was to buy and wear organic clothing. Now that we have daughter, we also buy organic toddler clothing for her to wear.
In any case, anyone who knows anything about spending time in the outdoors and camping, either with or without children, knows that layering your clothing is the way to go. So we applied all the things that we already knew about sleeping bag camping and adapted as needed.
